There is something special about being involved in the design of a piece of furniture for your home. Seeing the process of making from the selection of timber to the final coat of finish, followed by the years of enjoyment that piece brings, is very satisfying. Commissioning a piece of furniture from MJ Cabinetmakers is straightforward.
“There is nothing more satisfying than meeting a customer and listening to their practical needs and ideas for a piece of furniture, then going away and interpreting all their requirements and designing a piece which is unique, functional as well as being a beautiful piece of furniture. The customer is always kept updated as to the progress of their piece, and quite often if they are local they will call in at the workshop at different stages of the making process to see how it is going.”
A commissioned piece is undertaken after close consultation with the client. Ideas and designs are shared and when confirmed, we will give an estimated time for completion. Our timber selection is made locally and we therefore work mainly with Cumbrian hardwoods like Ash, Oak, Elm, Sycamore and Cherry.
A selection of previously commissioned pieces can be seen in on our gallery page. Private and corporate commissions are welcomed. If you would like to discuss the possibility of commissioning a piece of furniture, then please feel free to contact us without obligation.
